What information do we use?
- Contact information: your name, email address, phone number and postcode when you contact us or submit an enquiry through an enabled service.
- Vehicle information: registration, make, model, age, engine or fuel, mileage, condition and reason for getting a valuation.
- Enquiry and sale records: correspondence, estimates, agreed offers and information needed to arrange ownership checks, finance settlement, collection and payment.
- Technical information: privacy preferences and information recorded by hosting services, such as IP addresses and request logs.
Vehicle information and estimated values may be supplied by One Auto API and its data suppliers. The initial valuation form does not request payment-card details.
Why do we use this information?
We use your information to answer your enquiry, discuss a valuation and take steps you request before a potential sale. Where a sale is agreed, we use relevant information to carry out the contract, arrange collection and payment, and deal with finance settlement where applicable.
We also keep records needed to meet legal obligations. We may use technical information in our legitimate interests to maintain the service, investigate faults and prevent misuse.
Submitting an enquiry does not automatically subscribe you to promotional messages. Where consent is needed for optional marketing or tracking, we ask for it separately.
How long is information kept?
Information is kept for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected. For enquiries, this includes handling the request and any related follow-up. For completed sales, it includes the period needed for transaction records, applicable legal obligations and any dispute.
Retention depends on the type of information, whether the enquiry becomes a sale, outstanding questions or disputes and any legal record-keeping requirements. You can ask us about the retention of your particular enquiry or request deletion where the right applies.
Security and service providers
Access to enquiry information is limited to the people and service providers who need it for the relevant work. We use appropriate safeguards to help protect personal information.
Some providers may process information outside the UK. Where this applies, transfers must use a lawful mechanism and appropriate safeguards. Contact us for information about the arrangements relevant to your enquiry.
Your choices and rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access your personal information, correct it, delete it, restrict its use, object to processing or receive a portable copy. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Email hello@buyanyvans.co.uk to make a request. We may ask for enough information to verify your identity and locate your record. We will respond in line with applicable data-protection requirements.
You can also raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Are valuations automated decisions?
The online range is an estimated trade value based on vehicle information, not a guaranteed purchase offer. The team reviews the vehicle and agrees a final offer after inspection. You can ask for a personal assessment if details are wrong, the vehicle is damaged or no automatic estimate is available.
Updates to this notice
We update this notice when the way information is handled changes. Changes will be shown on this page.
